423d seems to be a cryptic alias for Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150 controller.
Support
Support for Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150/5350 WiFi/WiMAX was added to the kernel since version 2.6.27, driver iwlagn is used for that.
Firmware
In order to get it working you need to download proprietary firmware (freely distributed, though) from Intel's site: http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/?n=downloads , look for 5150 Images.
After downloading unpack the archive and copy the .ucode file into /lib/firmware dir.
