Maximum addressable memory for this Northbridge is 1GB (using four 256MB DIMMs).
No ThinkPad has more than 2 DIMM slots, so they are in theory limited to 512MB (with the exception of the 600X, which has an additional 64MB soldered to the systemboard, and can oficially support 64+256+256=576MB). Actual supported memory can be significantly less due to BIOS limits or available DIMM slots.
