Supported Systems

The only difference between the 90W and the 170W versions of the Mini Dock Plus Series 3 is the amount of power supplied to the laptop. The W510 and W520 have higher power requirements and must use the 170 watt dock.

For Mini Dock and Mini Dock Plus: the video controller only allows for two video ports to be used simultaneously (excluding devices with NVIDIA Optimus technology)

Monitor Configurations With NVIDIA Optimus

Hint:
Of the four total possible active monitors, up to three can be external and only two of the externals can be digital (DVI/DisplayPort)

See Technical Brief ThinkPad Multiple Monitor Configurations Using NVIDIA Optimus Technology for complete details. Prior to December 2011 the documentation was wrong; see this thread for details.
