Over the years, IBM used two different ports to provide TV-Out connection. These are:

  • proprietary mini plug, requiring an adapter cable
  • S-Video port

Linux Support

See Video Controllers.

Models featuring this Technology

proprietary port (Composite Video)

NOTE!
This requires an external video cable to convert the proprietary port to Composite video, which was shipped with the ThinkPad (FRU: 05K2821)

proprietary port (Composite Video & S-Video)

NOTE!
This requires an external video cable to convert the proprietary port to Composite video, which was shipped with the ThinkPad.

S-Video

Hint:
Need Composite output? Cheap S-Video to Composite adapters can be found in most electronic stores, and can be built using the appropriate connectors and just one capacitor.
