ThinkPad A series
The A series was developed as a direct successor of the discontinued 700 series, although, there were no successors to the experimental models of the 700 series' line-up.
While still being the highest-end series, it was no longer the series that featured any sort of new technology that was available. Instead, it was redesigned to house faster graphics controllers. This was done to allow CAD applications and professional graphics editors to run smoothly on the A series, as a result of the market accepting notebooks as viable workstations.
Due to the focus of making 'mobile workstations' more portable, the A series was discontinued and replaced with the T series 'p' models.
