I believe that for Ubuntu 10.10 (Linux 2.6.35) the wifi card power might be in the following file and not the one indicated (which does not exist):
/sys/class/net/wlan0/device/tx_power
-- these commands are not working here, not even when doing a "sudo" in front, I always get: Permission denied
