Display hotplug

Thinkpads have hardware support for polling the displays connected to video outputs and reconfiguring the video outputs accordingly. Software support for this in Linux depends on the following:

  • X.org Server package version 1.3 or above, containing the new Xrandr 1.2 output hotplug capable framework
  • Xrandr 1.2 client utility
  • Hotplug support in the X.org video driver for your GPU chip

Hotplug support is available in development Git versions of the xf86-video-ati driver for X.org.
