I may have something that would help under linux...

Unfortunately, I don't have one of these machines, so if somebody who does could type "cat /dev/input/event0" and mash the buttons for 1-2 seconds (to fill cat's buffer) (also try with the rest of the files in /dev/input/event*)., that would let me know if they send scancodes.

If so, you can use the photkeys script (at http://thequux.com) to bind those keys to commands...
