This category is not about the Lenovo G series, which is part of the Lenovo 3000 Value Line.
The G series was developed as a budget desktop replacement machine line, which was oddly unique in a way that it used desktop processors in place of mobile processors. It also retained the floppy disk drive, unlike other ThinkPads which no longer included them internally. This excluded the A series, as it was the only ThinkPad that kept the internal floppy disk drive. However, the G series was eventually forced to use Intel's mobile processors from the G41 onward. This was due to the increasing heat dissipation of the desktop NetBurst-based processors of that era, which would have required a re-design of the heatsink, and a bigger power adapter to boot. |
