A note on capacity
The capacity of this battery is 1.5Ah. For comparison, in the ThinkPad T40 series, the 6-cell system battery has a capacity of 4.8Ah and the 9-cell system battery holds 7.2Ah. Thus, the UltraBay battery provides only a small improvement in total charge capacity.
Using the UltraBay Slim battery for hot-swapping the system battery
When the UltraBay Slim battery is inserted and charged, the system battery can be hot-swapped (i.e., replaced without the need to reboot, hibernate or use an external power adapter). However, the laptop will completely deplete the UltraBay battery before using its system battery, so to make hot-swapping useful you'll need to keep the UltraBay Slim battery outside the UltraBay during normal battery-powered usage.
