Some recent ThinkPad models ship with Intel CPUs that implement the Intel VT extensions for hardware-supported virtualization, but the capability is disabled by the BIOS. There is no known solution. See this LKML thread. The following

- Z61e, Z61m, Z61p, Z61t - forum.thinkpads.com threads: [1] [2] - One in the forums said that the support said that if the newest BIOS (2.17) doesn't have the feature, it will never be available in future.
- X60, X60s - Ross Burton's blog - fixed by new BIOS
- X60 Tablet - fixed by new BIOS
- Lenovo 3000 N100
