This adapter supplies 3.3 V from 5 V with a voltage regulator marked VT350AF.  Between slimline plug pin 1 (Device Present) and receptacle pin 5 is resistance 4.74 kΩ: an installed HDD connects pin 5 to ground pins 4 and 6.  Between black and red wires is Ultrabay latch detector switch, normally open.  Black is ground, red traces to slimline plug pin 4 (Manufacturing Diagnostic): when this adapter is installed in Ultrabay, latch locked, then switch is closed.

FOOTNOTES [Δ]
  1. Lenovo strongly suggests attaching specific spacers to these 7mm storage drives, due to the potential height difference. They provide plastic and rubber spacers if you do not have them: HDD (FRU: 04W1640) or SSD (FRU: 0A35880/04W1641)
  2. This FRU requires factory-provided spacers (FRU: 41V9757/41V9756) to be attached onto the storage drive, before installing it into the HDD adapter.
  3. Despite the name of this FRU, there is no actual functionality residing on it to provide RAID capability. The model must support RAID; it is not the HDD adapter that has to support it.
