My old thinkpad
IBM ThinkPad 600X (2645-4EU), bought used.
Currently running: Debian.
Debian Installation issues
wdm will not run in 16 bit mode.
Configuration files
Networking
I have used 4 different network pcmcia cards with this computer:
The Lucent Technologies WaveLAN that used the orinoco, orinoco_cs and hermes modules. 802.11b
Netget wireless 802.11g
And 2 different pcmcia ethernet cards.
Current issues
The old TravelStar 12 Meg dist was very noisy. I have replaced it with a WDC WD800BEVE-00UYT0, ATA DISK drive.
I has thought about putting in a solid state disk, but it was too expensive, and I was not sure how long they last etc. Hopefully this will become a good option in the near future. I would think that a 600X with a SSD could become a very cheap eepc heavy.
