What is SuSE?

SUSE Linux is one of the oldest commercial Linux distributions around. The company is based in Nürnberg, Germany and started distributing Linux in 1994.

As RedHat did before, SUSE decided to open up their distribution into a community based branch in 2005. SUSE Linux 10 was the first community developed SUSE release. The home of this branch is www.opensuse.org.

For a more detailed description of SUSE and SUSE Linux, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUSE and the SuSE home page

Frequently asked questions about SUSE Linux are answered in the SUSE FAQ.

SUSE hosts several mailing lists - an overview and subscription information is available from http://www.suse.com/us/private/support/online_help/mailinglists/index.html, the archive is located at http://lists.suse.com/archive/
